Hey Reader, When life feels like it’s constantly demanding your attention, it’s easy to feel behind. Even sleeping with my phone in the restroom, it still feels like my phone begs for me to check it the moment I wake up. I can literally feel my impulses pulling me to "just tap and see." What if we have ourselves a pleasant surprise? Hardly ever works that way lol. Without fail, I immediately feel scrambled and have the urge to hurry myself into work mode. I see two roadblocks causing this:
It’s only on days when I don’t immediately check my phone that I feel the most in alignment, regardless of what time I wake up. So if you’ve been also feeling scrambled lately, I invite you to join me on this challenge:
Once we’ve completed this 1-hour block, only then can we check our phone… but if you want brownie points, I suggest waiting until you’ve completed at least one deep work session on top of your morning routine. Doing this has personally brought feelings of euphoria – wild what can happen and how simple things can be when we don't immediately check that damn phone. One thing we haven’t covered yet… social media. Save checking that MF until noon, at the very least. For 99% of us, there is absolutely zero benefit in checking Instagram before getting our most important work done. You deplete the dopamine – your motivation receptor – that you need in order to complete the needle-moving tasks in your business. This is why after a doom scroll, life feels meaningless and you have zero energy to get back to work. Please, please, please… be obsessively mindful about this and protect your energy like you would a newborn baby. The life, business, and content you’re creating depends on it. Good luck this next week and have a beautiful rest of your weekend. Much love, Ashton P.S. Hey Reader, “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion. Go out there and make a fool of yourself. Feel that feeling of cringe, and do it anyway.” I heard this scrolling on TikTok the other day, and gahhh damn it smacked me silly. “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion.” That line alone hits different. How often have we scared our true selves away just to avoid feeling embarrassed? Truth is, embarrassment isn’t as bad as we make it. What someone thinks of you is a reflection of them, not...
Hey Reader, “The quality of your life is based on the quality of your relationships.” That line hit me fkn hard this week. One of our Confidence on Camera challenge members, Thomas, mentioned it in his day 2 video submission, and it took me straight back to early college when social anxiety ran my life. Overthinking every word. Wondering how I looked. Needing shots of fireball just to calm the nerves. It may have helped in the moment (if I didn't black out), but it definitely prevented me...
Hey Reader, Talking to a camera can feel awkward as hell. What do I say? How do I look? What will people think about me? These thoughts can mess with your flow and make you lose your authenticity. At least that was my biggest challenge when I started on YouTube, overthinking everything instead of just showing up. But if you’ve got something to say, a brand or business to build, and you’re done helping someone else chase their dream… this is a problem worth overcoming. Opportunities show up...
