Hey Reader, There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to dating. I learned this the hard way after getting dumped in Sept. 2023. Prior to that 4.5 year relationship, I hardly had any experience dating multiple women, which left me empty-handed approaching the single life in Austin, Texas. I learned a lot... explored different options, fumbled a few bags, and even got catfished. That one was crazy lol. Choosing a platform for your brand + content is no different. Each has its perks/flaws and scratches a different itch… but which one’s the one for you? Instagram was my first love (since 2014). She’s all about aesthetics. Great for showing off your portfolio, but sometimes feels like you’re just hanging out for the vibe. “Wait, don’t take a bite yet. I gotta post this on the gram.” Pretty and polished but shallow at the same time. YouTube is wifey. Long-term, committed, and reliable. The one you bring home to family. You actually enjoy pillow talk with her. The time you spend with her matters, both now and in the long run. TikTok is the fun fling. Addicting, raw, spontaneous. She doesn’t need makeup, and that’s what makes her fun. Might not want to put a ring on it, but you actually listen to her better than IG. Best part? There’s no need to “capture the aesthetic” every time you go on a nice date. All jokes aside, here’s the truth: Each have their benefits – it just depends how you want to show up. My take:
If deep impact is your focus, YouTube wins. Just compare the type of people you love spending the weekend with vs the ones you see every now and then at the grocery store. But, big caveat: take baby steps getting there. YouTube is a beast (tip: use the PASTOR framework to outline your videos before filming). Good luck creating, happy Labor Day Weekend, and stay safe 🎉 Much love, Ashton P.S. Here’s an exclusive invite: I just opened Dreamflow Lounge — a space for creators, founders, and visionaries to grow, connect, and build powerful brands + online businesses. You’re one of the first to know about it and I’d love for you to join (but I need your help). Plus, it’s free for 3 months + I’ll gift you my $67 Notion system when you sign up. |

Hey Reader, “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion. Go out there and make a fool of yourself. Feel that feeling of cringe, and do it anyway.” I heard this scrolling on TikTok the other day, and gahhh damn it smacked me silly. “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion.” That line alone hits different. How often have we scared our true selves away just to avoid feeling embarrassed? Truth is, embarrassment isn’t as bad as we make it. What someone thinks of you is a reflection of them, not...
Hey Reader, “The quality of your life is based on the quality of your relationships.” That line hit me fkn hard this week. One of our Confidence on Camera challenge members, Thomas, mentioned it in his day 2 video submission, and it took me straight back to early college when social anxiety ran my life. Overthinking every word. Wondering how I looked. Needing shots of fireball just to calm the nerves. It may have helped in the moment (if I didn't black out), but it definitely prevented me...
Hey Reader, Talking to a camera can feel awkward as hell. What do I say? How do I look? What will people think about me? These thoughts can mess with your flow and make you lose your authenticity. At least that was my biggest challenge when I started on YouTube, overthinking everything instead of just showing up. But if you’ve got something to say, a brand or business to build, and you’re done helping someone else chase their dream… this is a problem worth overcoming. Opportunities show up...
