the biggest lie about personal branding

Hey Reader,

You wanna know the biggest lie about personal branding?

That your brand will grow if you follow the right strategy, post at the perfect time, or add more flashy edits to your videos...

The truth?

Your brand is shaped more by how you live offline than what you post online.

When you’re aligned in real life, that energy shows up the second you press record.

When you’re insecure or stuck, that shows up too… if you even press record at all.

Ask yourself:

What do I need to stop doing?

What do I need to keep doing?

What do I need to start doing?

When you grow, so does your brand. It has no choice but to follow.

For me, this looks like:

  • Building relationships offline → strengthens community
  • Working outside my home → sparks creativity + fresh content
  • Training 4–5x/week → resets my energy and builds consistency

Community, creativity, and consistency are key to building a magnetic brand.

Notice how I didn't mention anything about picking the perfect cover photo or posting every f*cking day of the week.

I used to obsess over strategies… and literally none of it worked.

But once I started living my life more fully offline, everything online began to click.

My content started gaining traction.

People started resonating with my energy.

I finally stopped overthinking what strategy to follow, and instead created my own.

All because I started operating from a frequency that wasn't baked in overwhelm or self-doubt.

Your online brand will never be stronger than the life you’re living offline.

Instead of obsessing over tactics or strategies, focus on living a fuller, healthier, and more aligned life.

Because the way you feel, act, and show up offline directly fuels your energy when you show up.

Making it seamless when it comes time to give us your truth, your gift, and your impact.

See you next week,

Ashton

Hey Reader, “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion. Go out there and make a fool of yourself. Feel that feeling of cringe, and do it anyway.” I heard this scrolling on TikTok the other day, and gahhh damn it smacked me silly. “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion.” That line alone hits different. How often have we scared our true selves away just to avoid feeling embarrassed? Truth is, embarrassment isn’t as bad as we make it. What someone thinks of you is a reflection of them, not...

Hey Reader, “The quality of your life is based on the quality of your relationships.” That line hit me fkn hard this week. One of our Confidence on Camera challenge members, Thomas, mentioned it in his day 2 video submission, and it took me straight back to early college when social anxiety ran my life. Overthinking every word. Wondering how I looked. Needing shots of fireball just to calm the nerves. It may have helped in the moment (if I didn't black out), but it definitely prevented me...

Hey Reader, Talking to a camera can feel awkward as hell. What do I say? How do I look? What will people think about me? These thoughts can mess with your flow and make you lose your authenticity. At least that was my biggest challenge when I started on YouTube, overthinking everything instead of just showing up. But if you’ve got something to say, a brand or business to build, and you’re done helping someone else chase their dream… this is a problem worth overcoming. Opportunities show up...
