one tiny word that ended my procrastination for good

Hey Reader,

How easy is it for you to push important things off?

Resistance can easily make the task feel impossible, and suddenly distractions feel “urgent,” like you have no other option.

But how often do you finally do the thing… only to realize it wasn’t as bad as you made it out to be?

In college, I dreaded accounting. I dreaded every last drop of those 5 classes I had to take. Once I finished the final class, I realized I actually enjoyed accounting, and looking back I realized I made life much harder than it needed to be simply because of my mindset.

If only I could go back and reframe my outlook on learning the subject, I could’ve enjoyed the journey a lot more.

If that holds true for the past, I wonder what it also holds true for the present?

How many things could we accomplish if we reminded ourselves how rewarding it is to just lean into the resistance, especially when we don't know where to start?

Procrastination isn’t who you are — it’s a symptom of stress, anxiety, and low dopamine.

A person who identifies as a health-oriented person will continue to go to the gym and eat right, even when they don’t feel like it, simply because it’s who they are.

Be careful identifying yourself as a procrastinator, because if you do, you will reinforce a limiting mindset that will time and time again hold you back from your potential.

In other words, your ability to respond to and embrace discomfort will dictate how far you go in life.

Here’s the shift that changed everything for me:

Instead of asking yourself “Can I?” reframe it and ask yourself How can I?”

This turns off binary thinking and invites a problem-solving mindset that will help you literally achieve anything you want.

My biggest dream is to produce music that brings people together, and ironically (or not), it’s the one thing I’ve had the most resistance towards.

The problem: I kept asking myself low-value questions.

“Can I be a successful producer?” kept me stuck in procrastination mode.

But how can I become a successful producer?” opened the door to action.

Can you notice the difference?

So tell me: what’s the thing you’ve been resisting?

Is it...

Creating content?

Launching that new business offer?

Finally asking that hot chick on a date?

Whatever it is, the outcome you're looking for boils down to one thing:

The quality of questions you ask yourself.

Better questions → better actions → better life.

See you next week,

Ashton

Hey Reader, “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion. Go out there and make a fool of yourself. Feel that feeling of cringe, and do it anyway.” I heard this scrolling on TikTok the other day, and gahhh damn it smacked me silly. “Embarrassment is an under-explored emotion.” That line alone hits different. How often have we scared our true selves away just to avoid feeling embarrassed? Truth is, embarrassment isn’t as bad as we make it. What someone thinks of you is a reflection of them, not...

Hey Reader, “The quality of your life is based on the quality of your relationships.” That line hit me fkn hard this week. One of our Confidence on Camera challenge members, Thomas, mentioned it in his day 2 video submission, and it took me straight back to early college when social anxiety ran my life. Overthinking every word. Wondering how I looked. Needing shots of fireball just to calm the nerves. It may have helped in the moment (if I didn't black out), but it definitely prevented me...

Hey Reader, Talking to a camera can feel awkward as hell. What do I say? How do I look? What will people think about me? These thoughts can mess with your flow and make you lose your authenticity. At least that was my biggest challenge when I started on YouTube, overthinking everything instead of just showing up. But if you’ve got something to say, a brand or business to build, and you’re done helping someone else chase their dream… this is a problem worth overcoming. Opportunities show up...
